Are you worried about sex offenders living in your neighborhood? When it comes to the safety of yourself and your family, you can never be too careful. IDShield keeps watch for you!
How to Find Sex Offenders in My Area
You can find sex offenders in your area by searching your neighborhood on a number of sex offender websites.
People convicted of certain sex crimes such as sexual offenses or sexual abuse against children must add their personal information to their local government’s sex offender registry and the National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW). This is part of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) making their information public for the monitoring of sex offenders.
Since these individuals can be a high risk to public safety they must take part in the monitoring program, in addition to parole supervision. After a risk assessment, offenders can be ordered to wear an ankle bracelet for GPS monitoring or could be placed under community supervision. The state parole board can also impose extra guidelines like an annual polygraph.
This method of sex offender management has been shown to reduce the risk of recidivism or the person committing another sex offense.
Sex Offender Safety Plan
Our sex offender monitoring feature reports on registered sex offenders within your geographic area.
To find out if a registered sex offender lives near you, just enter your address into the IDShield web portal or the IDShield mobile app. You can choose up to a 5-mile radius from your home address for IDShield to check. The report will include the location of the offender, the offender’s name and details, a photo ID, and the offense(s) that they have committed.
With our enhanced feature, you will also receive alerts when a new sex offender moves into or out of your neighborhood.
If someone who already lives in your neighborhood commits an offense and gets registered, IDShield will alert you about that as well. IDShield offers identity theft protection for families so you can rest easy in your home.
